Description
EDIT 1: I wanted to include some more Water-Type Pokemon into the roster, so I added a new row; The original Water-Type row now consists of Pokemon found in pond and river areas, while the new row consists of sea-dwelling Pokemon. Most Ice-Type Pokemon from Gen. 1 fall into the latter category, so I moved them there, and made their original row exclusive to Ghost-Type and Dragon-Type Pokemon.
EDIT 2: There were some Pokemon I felt uncomfortable about excluding, so I changed a few of the entries in the roster to correct this. Also, I changed the bottom roster from "Ghost and Dragon Types" to "Special Pokemon". I'm pretty content with how the final roster turned out so far.
About a year ago, I uploaded this deviation (t10.deviantart.net/qNeBv2Kt7ex…) to DeviantArt, depicting a potential fighting game roster consisting entirely of 1st generation Pokemon. Recently, I decided to revisit and refine the idea into a more complete roster. And here it is - the new and improved 1st Generation Pokemon fighting game roster!
Row 1 (Normal Types): Jigglypuff, Meowth, Raticate
Row 2 (Grass Types): Bulbasaur, Weepinbell, Tangela
Row 3 (Water Types): Psyduck, Poliwhirl, Wartortle
Row 4 (Fire Types): Vulpix, Growlithe
Row 5 (Electric Types): Pikachu, Magnemite
Row 6 (Fighting Types): Mankey, Machoke
Row 7 (Poison Types): Koffing, Nidorino, Golbat
Row 8 (Bug Types): Paras, Beedrill
Row 9 (Flying Types): Pidgeotto, Doduo, Farfetch'd
Row 10 (Rock and Ground Types): Cubone, Sandslash, Graveler
Row 11 (Water and Ice Types): Staryu
Row 11 (Psychic Types): Drowzee, Kadabra
Row 12 (Special Pokemon): Eevee, Haunter
Shaded Pokemon have to be unlocked in order to use. Don't worry, I'll update this to reveal the full roster soon. In the meantime, try and guess which ones are shaded.
